The image of the Child Jesus
(Sto. Nino) is popular all over the world. In the
Phlippines, the Sto. Nino was introduced by the Spaniards who
also brought Christianity to the country.
Some say having the red
image will bring the owner good luck while the green image
brings financial success.
The Sto. Nino De Praga or Prague Child Jesus
is a replica of the image found at the Prague Church, Our Lady
of Victorious. It was donated by the Polyxena of
Lobkovic and brought to Prague at the end of the 16th century.
It is said that the
Blessed Virgin Mary appeared in Manaoag (the name also
translated to "to call"), Pangasinan, Philippines to
a local farmer as he was headed home. She asked that a church
be built in Her honor and promised to bless the faithful in
this place. In 1605, the church of Our Lady of Manaoag was
built on the hill where the apparition occurred. To
date, many believers visit the Church and attest to having
their prayers answered.
